Your Word

Mid-week greetings! Last Sunday we began looking at what it means to be a spiritually healthy individual in a spiritually healthy church, and we saw that God’s plan builds on four foundations: The Word, Worship, Prayer, and Fellowship. We remember that each of these foundations is built on the Chief Cornerstone, Christ Jesus Himself! One question I left you with last week was “Which of these areas does God want to grow and develop in you over the coming year?” Which one jumps out at you? This week we’ll dive in deeper to take a look at the Word: what […]

The pastor called in sick

So I was all set. Excited and ready to kick off the new series last Sunday. Saturday morning I got up with a cough and stuffy nose, and by just after lunch I was crawling back into bed with a fever and that feeling of impending doom. The last three days have been a feverish, bedridden blur, but hope dawns again this morning. The irony of being too sick to preach a message about health last Sunday is not lost on me. “Pay attention to your healthy!”

Midweek greetings, y’all! Last week we were reminded that when the Lord calls us to step out and follow Him that He always provides what we need to accomplish that calling. Most importantly, He goes with us and before us in our journey. As believers, we can follow Him confidently knowing that there truly are no “godforsaken towns,” because He is with us wherever we go. How have you experienced His presence with you as you’ve been going this week? Speaking of going, when we lived in China one of the statements we heard most often from students and concerned […]

“I believe. Help my unbelief!”

“I believe. Help my unbelief!” This cry by a desperate father watching his son suffer recounted in Mark 9 has become one of my “go to prayers.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve breathed out this prayer to Jesus over the last 25 years of my walk with Him, but if anything, I pray it more now than when I first began trusting Him. It is hard to trust, especially in the midst of big changes, and it often seems like our unbelief is winning. This Sunday we’re going to look at another time of change that occurred […]

New Year's Greetings

Greetings brothers and sisters of TCBC! Grace and Peace to you as 2017 winds down and 2018 begins! Many people often use this time of year to reflect on how the previous year went and look ahead to the coming year. New Year’s resolutions are common, but most never make it out of January! I’m guilty as charged in that area as well. Last year I said I wanted to lose twenty pounds in 2017, and as of today I have 25 to go! Making changes in our lives is hard, but even small changes often make big differences! In […]
