The Circle of (prayer) life

Posted on

Greetings y’all! I need you to pray for me. Elizabeth (the youngest) recently rediscovered “The Lion King” on Netflix, and with that a whole host of new “old” songs is filling our house. The movie itself brings back memories both good and bad for me, yet I have found myself humming along from time to time. I guess the good news is that maybe we can drop some of the Frozen songs and “Let it go!” Last week we talked about the “circle of prayer life;” the pattern of relationship, worship, Kingdom, provision, protection, and worship that Jesus taught His […]

Billy, prayer, and action

Billy Graham “changed addresses” today. He was 99, and has been called the most influential Christian in America’s history. His public ministry spanned 60 years and 185 nations, but when asked about this fame he replied that only one Voice mattered, and he hoped to hear his Lord say “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” He is far happier, far better off today than the world he left! Editor’s note: This blog originated as an email to the church on 2/13/18, but got lost in cyberspace on the way to the website.   The Olympics and Life I love watching the Olympics, and I confess that sometimes I root against competitors from other countries so that American athletes can win medals. The Olympics are a microcosm of the ups and downs in life. Of glory […]

Editor’s note: This blog originated as an email to the church on 2/7/18, but got lost in cyberspace on the way to the website.   Worship is not a spectator sport Many of y’all that know me know that I am a huge college football fan, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide. I love watching the games and can get pretty animated at times. Don’t we all? Don’t we raise our hands to signal “touchdown” (or maybe a three-point shot on the hardwood around here)? Don’t we pump our fists after a good play? Don’t we shake our heads after bad […]

What’s the use?

Editor’s note: This blog originated as an email to the church on 2/1/18, but got lost in cyberspace on the way to the website.   What’s the use? Last Sunday we saw that God in His great love gave us His Word that we might know Him. We saw how the Holy Spirit directed men what to write, and that the Bible is our standard for evaluating our personal spiritual experiences. We also saw that paying attention to God’s Word will change our lives. This week we’ll continue looking at the Word as a foundation and try to answer the […]
