Off the leash

“Off the leash” This morning Andrew and Timothy were in the pool by six for swim practice, which means we had to get up at five and get out the door by 5:30. They swim for an hour or so and then shower afterwards, so that gives me plenty of time to get a morning walk in at the park next door. The interesting thing about the park on these “cool” Arizona summer mornings is that the dog owners are all out in force. There are big dogs and little dogs. Fat dogs and skinny dogs. Furry dogs and freshly […]

Freedom

“Freedom!” The movie “Braveheart” is one of my favorite movies. Ever. It is brutally gory, but it is the story of a man who tries to unite his people and lead his country to throw off an occupying force by any means necessary. So, we’re moving

So, we’re moving. You might have heard. Most of y’all are familiar with our real estate challenges this spring since coming to Tucson. At one point I think we looked at everything online in our price range at least twice. We probably looked at more than 60 houses in person. We had multiple contracts fall through. And we went through the […]

Greetings y’all! Families are important. Most cultures around the world place a high value on families and family members. Even our movies and TV shows tap into this idea of family. Down through the years we’ve had shows like “Father knows best,” “Leave it to Beaver,” “The Brady Bunch,” “The Partridge Family,” “All in the Family,” “The Cosby Show,” “Family Ties,” and “Everybody loves Raymond.” This family show theme continues on through today with shows like “Modern Family,” “Rosanne,” and “This is us (bring the tissues).” Shows about other people’s families make us laugh and cry and think about our […]

The Walking Dead

Posted on

Greetings y’all! Last week we talked about life at a crossroads, and at the end of Galatians two Paul challenged us to choose which path we would take: self-effort leading to death, or Christ, which leads to an abundant life of surrender to Him. Which leads us to this coming week’s topic: I’ve been told that “The Walking Dead” is a pretty popular show, but I’ve never seen it. (I’ve always been more of a Marvel guy, myself, but I digress…) From what I understand, the show takes place during and after some kind of zombie apocalypse and it is […]
