Can’t buy me love

Something strange is happening to us. When we picked up the vehicle God provided for us last week, the radio was set on the “classic hits” station in town. I hadn’t listened to it before, but Lisa and I are now hooked. So many of the songs are ones we grew up with in middle school, high school, and college, and each song brings back many memories. Each song is also an opportunity to embarrass our teenage children while we drive and sing. Good times!

But what does this have to do with church, you ask?

Well, I heard the old song with the line, “money can’t buy me love.” And as God had planned it, that’s what we’re going to talk about this coming Sunday during our combined service at 11. What place does money serve in the life of a believer? And how should we best use it in the context of relationships? Jesus will answer these questions for us out of Luke 16.

We’ll also come together to observe the Lord’s Supper this Sunday, so I hope you can make it!

As I mentioned last Sunday, we’re going to try something different this week for Sunday school too! We’ll have a combined Sunday school class in the sanctuary at 9:29 to work through the results of your spiritual gifts inventories together and talk about Spiritual gifts. Bring a pen, and don’t forget to finish your inventories this week and bring them with you on Sunday to redeem them for a free meal later this fall!

And if you see me this week movin’ and groovin’, or attempting to dance, don’t worry. I’m alright… (but you might want to avert your eyes).

See you Sunday!
