Open the eyes of my heart Lord…

Some songs just grab you. Take over you. Come into your mind in good times or in bad. These are the kinds of songs that you connect with on a spiritual level. Songs that bring joy. Songs that bring tears. Songs that comfort you or inspire you.

For me, one of those songs was written by Paul Baloche in 1997 and made popular by Michael W Smith in around 2001. And it moves me each time I hear it or sing it.

Here are some of the lyrics:

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

Holy, holy, holy
We cry holy, holy, holy
You are holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
You are holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

There have been many times in my life that I needed to stop all that I was doing and be with Jesus. To sit at His feet and see Him. Listen to His voice. That I needed Him to open the eyes of my heart so that I could see Him, and gain a proper perspective on myself and the world around me. This song always helps!

This week as we continue part two of our series “How to be with Jesus” from Luke 18, we’ll consider seeing Jesus as He is. As we prepare for that message, I’d invite you to join me in asking Jesus to open the eyes of our hearts, so that we can see Him clearly.

See y’all Sunday.
