Seriously joyful

Posted on

I’m so excited for this coming Sunday! It will be joyful and serious at the same time. Joyful because we will dedicate two little ones from our congregation to the Lord. We will ask God to bless them and their families. And we will remember what a blessing our children are to us! This calls for a serious level of commitment for us as a biblical community. The world likes to claim that “It takes a village to raise a child,” but God came up with the idea long before any of us! Our church body plays an important role in the lives of each one of […]

E Pluribus Unum

There has been a lot in the news lately about gearing up for the next Olympics. Some encouraging. Some discouraging. But one of the things that I like about the Olympics is that we usually (but not always) come together as a country, set aside our differences, and cheer for our nation to win.  It is hard to unite a collection of individuals. Much harder to unite a nation of individuals! But somehow, at least until recent years, the Olympics managed to pull it off. We could all join in chanting: “USA! USA!” July 4th, American Independence Day, has traditionally been […]

How we grow

Posted on

We’ve been talking a lot recently about “strength in numbers.” Living in community with others provides security and fellowship. It also provides purpose! When we live in community, God uses our community to add to our community as we share good news with those around us! Connecting with others as smaller groups of believers is how we grow as individuals and as a church.  This Sunday we’ll finish our series on “Biblical Community 101” by looking at fifth of five critical components for true biblical community: Witnessing. We’ll see how God’s people can effectively work together to share the Lord Jesus with the […]

Biblical fellowship

Posted on

What does living together in fellowship with other believers really mean?  One extreme might say “Occasional potlucks.” The other extreme is moving into the middle of nowhere and creating a commune together.  True biblical fellowship is somewhere in between.   This Sunday we’ll continue our series on “Biblical Community 101” by looking at the fourth of five critical components for true biblical community: Fellowship. We’ll see the early church live out true biblical fellowship. We have much to learn from them! Please join us and worship the Lord Jesus Christ in person on Sunday at 9:30 for English and 11 for Chinese! If you can’t make […]

God answers every prayer

Posted on

Do you believe that?  He does! This Sunday we’ll continue our series on “Biblical Community 101” by looking at the third of five critical components for true biblical community: Prayer. We’ll see three specific aspects of how the early church prayed in community, and how God answered those prayers! We have much to learn from them! Please join us and worship the Lord Jesus Christ in person on Sunday at 9:30 for English and 11 for Chinese! If you can’t make it in person, you can still join us online by going through our website: www.tcbcf.org then hit “watch livestream,” or go directly to our Youtube page.  […]

What do you worship?

Posted on

We all worship something. Money. Power. Control. Peace. Financial security. A trouble-free life. Other people. These other things aren’t bad in and of themselves. But our attitude towards them is important. If we aren’t careful, we will make these lesser things ultimate things.  We all worship something, but the main object of our worship makes all the difference! This Sunday we’ll return to our series on “Biblical Community 101” by looking at the second of five critical components for true biblical community: Worship. Please join us and worship the Lord Jesus Christ in person on Sunday at 9:30 for English and 11 for Chinese! If […]

That settles it

Posted on

There’s an old saying that goes something like this: “God says it. I believe it. That settles it.” I appreciate the idea behind this statement. But I disagree with it! I would like to tweak it a bit to say:  “Whether you or I believe it or not, God says it, and that settles it.” The truth of God’s Word does not depend on whether or not enough people believe it. It is “settled,” whether we like it, believe it, or not! Even so, we sure hope that more and more people will believe it and respond…starting with us!  This […]

The Sunday School Answer

Posted on

We often joke that “Jesus” is always the answer in Sunday school. No matter what question the teacher asks, “Jesus” is the right answer! It is a joke. Yet it is still true! We can’t go wrong with looking to Jesus! This Sunday we’re going to continue our series on Biblical Community 101 by looking at how Jesus modeled biblical community.  Please join us in person on Sunday at 9:30 for English and 11 for Chinese! If you can’t make it in person, you can still join us online by going through our website: www.tcbcf.org then hit “watch livestream,” or go directly to our […]

Strength in numbers

Posted on

Last Sunday we started a new series called “Biblical Community 101.” We saw that the Trinity both models perfect oneness and desires fellowship with us too. This Sunday we’ll continue our series by looking at a few Old Testament examples of Biblical community. I’ll be referencing Veggie Tales classics as well as a song popular on Christian radio right now.  My hope is that we’ll see the importance of strength in numbers.  Please join us in person on Sunday at 9:30 for English and 11 for Chinese! If you can’t make it in person, you can still join us online by going through […]

Avoiding the “Post-Easter Crash”

Posted on

It was a great and glorious Easter weekend, wasn’t it? And it was also busy. So busy, with extra activities that you might now find yourself in the midst of a “Post-Easter Crash.” Maybe it is all the Easter candy. Maybe it is reintroducing food or something else you fasted during Lent. Or maybe it is the feeling of going through the motions; “life goes on!” So how do we avoid, or dig out of, the “Post-Easter Crash?” We turn to God. We fellowship with Him and with other believers. And we try to build on the resurrection power available for […]
