Avoiding the “Post-Easter Crash”

Posted on

It was a great and glorious Easter weekend, wasn’t it? And it was also busy. So busy, with extra activities that you might now find yourself in the midst of a “Post-Easter Crash.” Maybe it is all the Easter candy. Maybe it is reintroducing food or something else you fasted during Lent. Or maybe it is the feeling of going through the motions; “life goes on!” So how do we avoid, or dig out of, the “Post-Easter Crash?” We turn to God. We fellowship with Him and with other believers. And we try to build on the resurrection power available for […]

Evidence that demands a decision

Posted on

Holy Week is upon us once again. The week that we focus even more on the Lord Jesus’ death for our sins and resurrection on Easter morning.  But what evidence do we have for this celebration? On Sunday we’ll look at 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, and we’ll examine clear evidence that demands a decision.  Please join us in person on Sunday at 7:00AM for our combined English and Chinese Sunrise Service with communion! If you can’t make it in person, you can still join us online by going through our website: www.tcbcf.org then hit “watch livestream.”  We’ll follow our sunrise service time with a special combined […]

Has Jesus changed your life?

Posted on

If you use Facebook, yesterday you might have seen me briefly share my story about how Jesus changed my life. You can look for both English and Mandarin on the church Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/tcbcf/ These testimonies are part of a challenge for Christians across the US and the world to flood social media this week with stories about how Jesus has saved and changed us. If you want to join in, you can make a brief video and then add the hashtag #Jesuschangedmylife when you share your story online. The whole world needs to hear about how Jesus has saved […]

Resurrection hope

These are interesting times. Troubling times. Annoying times. And if we’re not careful, we can let the circumstances get the best of us. I remember a story Howard Hendricks told about a conversation he had with a professor while he was a seminary student. The professor asked Howard how he was doing, and Howard replied, “pretty good under the circumstances!” To which the professor replied, “What on earth are you doing under those?” I think the professor’s point was, as believers we’re not called to live “under the circumstances.” We’re called to live beyond them. We’re called to live with […]

Good Friday, Easter, and Dirt

Posted on

We’re celebrating Holy Week this week. The last week of Jesus’ life on earth before He died on the cross on Friday and then rose from the dead on Easter morning. Christians have observed various traditions surrounding this week for centuries. For our purposes this year we’re focusing on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. This Friday at noon, those that are able can join a “mid-town community Good Friday service.” This year we’ll meet across the street at Northminster Presbyterian, and Rev. Richard Jones from St. James United Methodist Church will be sharing the message. Then at 6:55PM Friday evening […]

How are your feet?

Posted on

How are your feet? Easter has come and gone, and while beginning an Easter candy detox is a given, the bigger question before us is “Now what?” What was the point of Easter again? Victory! New Life! Hope! Good news! That’s what I’d like us to think about this week. How do we get this good news about Easter and Jesus out into the world around us? Romans 10:13-15 tells us that: “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved,” but it also asks “How then will they call on him in whom they have not […]

Passion Week

Posted on

Greetings y’all! Passion week is upon us. The week after Palm Sunday before Good Friday and Easter. For many of us it has become just another week, but it doesn’t have to be! As you go about your week, who do you know that you can bring to Jesus? This week you have a built-in opportunity to invite your friends and family members to join us on Friday at 7 for a special Good Friday service. The praise team will lead us, I’ll share a short message, and then we’ll break up into smaller groups for a discussion time. We […]
